Aadhaar Card non obligatory for MGNREGA wages
Aadhaar Card non obligatory for MGNREGA wages
Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) employees where denied to pay their wages as they were not obtaining their Aadhaar Cards, and on Tuesday in this matter The Ministry of Rural Development directed the states not to reject employees job cards under MGNREGA for non-possession of post office account numbers/ bank or the Aadhaar Card.
Instead The Ministry of Rural Development said that it is a duty of MGNREGA Programme Officer in the States to assist employees to get Aadhaar Cards.
On 23rd September 2013 the Supreme Court had passed an order that no person should suffer for not getting Aadhaar Card, and now this is the infringement of the Supreme Court order on not paying wages of the workers for not obtaining Aadhaar Cards in Khunti district of Jharkhand.
